Tomorrow (Nov 18th) 5:30-7:30pm CMoG is throwing a 2300° party. It’s a free event that features music, food, and glass blowing. Everything is tied to the theme, which is the title of the new exhibit opening at the event, East Meets West.

The new exhibit explores the cultural influences of the east (as in Asia), on western glass making techniques (and vise-versa) within the 18th and 19th centuries.  This sounds like a great exhibit that has a lot to offer in terms of art, culture, and history. If your not into the whole “being cultured” thing, don’t worry, there’s booze, music, and food to quench your shallow tastes.

CMoG really goes all the way with their East Meets West theme. Music is by Kelly and the Cowboys, a country-billy band that will rock your smelly western socks off. Additionally, Corning East and Corning West High Schools will be performing drum lines. Even the glass blowers are somewhat tied to the theme. As my girlfriend – who works at the museum – pointed out to me, John Ford, the Chinese Translator at the museum, will be on stage with Erik Meek, a glass artist with the museum since 2005.

They will also be lighting the 14 foot glass ornament tree, which stays lit throughout the season. Admission is free and includes food and beverages. However you can also purchase a meal option and / or alcohol. There’s also a free shuttle bus if you park in the lot close to the I-86 exit.
