Your family is coming to visit and your dog smells. Professional Grooming is pricey, it’s cold outside, and it’s not really a convenient time to clog your shower drain. Well don’t call your parents and cancel, drive over to Market Street Laser Wash where they have a separate dog wash. It’s located at 353 E Market St, Corning, NY (next to Spencers).

The dog wash is located inside it’s own room and has two separate wash stations.   It’s only $8 and you don’t need to bring anything but your dog.  The dog walks up a ramp to the “tub” and a short leash connects to the collar to keep your water fearing animals from destroying you once they see what’s coming. It operates much like a car wash with various options for tear-free shampoo, flea / tick solution, conditioner, anti-odor rinse, etc…  It also includes a dryer and vacuum, but my dog freaks out when I use those so I just bring a towel.

It’s fast, easy, and inexpensive. It’s also very clean inside.  The only time I’ve ever seen it messy was when I had to wait for a couple of big fluffy dogs in front of me, but even then it wasn’t so bad… I mean it’s a place to wash dogs.  I usually put a couple extra bucks in to get more time and not feel rushed. I usually start with a quick rinse, do a shampoo, followed by a conditioner and then rinse again.  The anti-odor rinse is great; it lasts for several days (avoid your dog’s face with this).  Lastly, remember to leave a minute or so at the end to switch over to the tub disinfecting rinse. Consider the people who come in after you by unclogging the drain and spraying down the tub.

It’s also worth noting that I did a quick car rinse here today. I love that their minimum is only $2.50; in the winter I generally just want to rise the salt off my car. They also now accept credit / debit cards for the manual car wash (as well as the Laser Wash). This is great because most of the ATMs around here give out multiples of $20s and then I’m off on a search to make change.  Which by the way, I did all of that today before I realized the car wash now accepts cards. Arg!  Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, the dog wash only accepts cash.
