In an effort to find the best ice cream in the area, I have eaten ice cream every single meal, every day, for an entire month. I have gained 137 pounds, lost all of my teeth & muscles, and ouch I just died. … Wait… I’m clinging to life… While I go on a strict vegetable diet, can you help me figure out which is the best? Hokey Pokey’s

Hokey Pokey's

37 W William St, Corning, NY

Homemade goodness, I’m told they make their gelato fresh daily. I personally love their Italian Ice mixed drinks / slushies / or whatever they call them..  They have been in business for 25+ years. You may remember the iconic Hokey Pokey cow statues. Some ugly humans vandalized and destroyed the statues this year – the owners are actively seeking replacements & ideas from local artists.

Beartown Peaches ‘n Cream

Peaches 'n Cream

5 Beartown Rd, Painted Post, NY

Peaches & Cream has 2 locations: South Corning & Painted Post (Beartown Rd). I’m assuming all things are equal at both places, other than the one on Beartown Rd has an incredible farm market.  Along with great ice cream, you’ll find an entire range of fresh produce, grape pies, and other homemade items (like their own salsa). My favorite ice cream is their pumpkin spice available only in the fall.

Dippity Do Dahs

Dippity Do Dahs

58 E Market St, Corning, NY

A brand spankin’ new homemade ice creamery on Market St in downtown Corning. I’ve sampled a bunch of their flavors and they have one of my favorites, peanut butter and jelly. Just because it’s new, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve love. Their freshly made waffle cones are fantastic, and have warm fudge hidden away in the bottom, a gift on your last bite.

Old World Cafe

Old World Cafe

1 W Market St, Corning, NY

Obviously I could rave about Old World forever… Amazing soups, great sandwiches, etc… but this is the Ice Cream post, and they have you covered there as well. Old World offers Purity Ice Cream, one of the area’s most popular brands hailing from Ithaca, NY.  Date Tip: Order the Old World Croissant. It’s a big buttery croissant filled with ice cream and chocolate; I can guarantee it’s consumption will be followed by some serious smooching.
